Dementieva, Kleybanova to meet in Malaysia final

02/27/2010 - Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Russians Elena Dementieva and Alisa Kleybanova were semifinal winners Saturday and will meet for the title at the Malaysian Open.

The top-seeded Dementieva rolled to a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Austria's Sybille Bammer, while the fourth-seeded Kleybanova also posted an easy win with a 6-4, 6-1 triumph over Japan's Ayumi Morita.

Dementieva has dominated her opposition this week, dropping a total of just 15 games in winning each of her four matches in straight sets. She won the first set Saturday in a mere 16 minutes and finished with five breaks of Bammer's serve during the match.

On Sunday, the seventh-ranked player in the world will try for her third title of 2010 and the 17th of her career. She beat Serena Williams for the Sydney crown in January and toppled Lucie Safarova for the Paris Indoors championship two weeks ago.

Kleybanova, meanwhile, will be appearing in her first career WTA Tour final. She was a semifinalist three times last year, but had struggled in 2010 before this week.

A third-round loss to Justine Henin at the Australian Open was Kleybanova's best previous finish this year. She was a first-round loser in three of her other four WTA Tour events.

The 20-year-old Kleybanova and 28-year-old Dementieva, both natives of Moscow, will meet for the first time.

Sunday's winner will claim $37,000.
