07/02/2006 - (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - A.J. Burnett hopes to make it two straight wins this afternoon when the Toronto Blue Jays try and complete a three-game sweep of the Philadelphia Phillies at the Rogers Centre.
Burnett returned from the disabled list in impressive fashion on Tuesday against the Washington Nationals, as he tossed a six-hit shutout for his first win with the Blue Jays.
Toronto signed Burnett to a five-year $55 million free-agent deal in the offseason despite a history of arm injuries, including elbow surgery in 2003 that caused him to miss the entire season. Burnett has done nothing to ease those concerns, as he has been on the disabled list twice this year with elbow soreness.
The 29-year-old right-hander, who is 1-1 with a 3.24 earned run average this year, has faced the Phillies 14 times in his career, 13 of which have been starts, and is 4-6 against them with a 4.39 ERA.
Philadelphia will counter with reliever Aaron Fultz, who will be making the first major league start of his career. The left-hander's longest outing has been three innings, which he has done twice this season.
Fultz, who is starting due to two rainouts and a doubleheader, is 1-0 this year with a 4.25 ERA. He has made 11 appearances against the Jays in his seven-year career and is 2-1 with a save and a 5.79 ERA against them.
In the second game of this interleague affair on Saturday, Eric Hinske went 2- for-2 with a two-run home run and he reached base all four times at bat as the Blue Jays rolled to a 5-2 win.
Reed Johnson went 3-for-5 with a run scored and Frank Catalanotto had two hits and scored a run for Toronto, which has won five straight and six of seven. Scott Downs (2-0), who relieved starter Ty Taubenheim, earned the win after giving up a hit while striking out two in an inning of work.
Taubenheim tossed five shutout innings, giving up two hits and two walks with four strikeouts for the Blue Jays.
Jimmy Rollins doubled, tripled, drove in a run and scored a run and Chase Utley and Dave Dellucci had two hits apiece for the Phillies, who have lost eight of their last nine games. Cory Lidle (4-7) was saddled with the loss after giving up three runs on seven hits with two walks and four strikeouts in six innings pitched for the Phillies.
This is the first series between Philadelphia and Toronto since the Blue Jays won two of three games against the Phillies in 2001. However, these teams have split the 14 games in the series since the start of the 1998 season.

Let’s take a look at the Super Bowl 2009 betting odds and the betting line and figure out where they’ve been and where they are going to go.
MySportsbook.com put up the Super Bowl 2009 betting odds late on Sunday night with the Pittsburgh Steelers favored by 6.5 points and a total betting line at 47.5 points.
Since then, however, the Super Bowl 2009 betting odds have seen a good deal of movement and you’ll want to be on top of where they are likely to move to make sure you get the best line value for the big game.
Since opening, the Super Bowl 2009 betting lines went to Steelers -7 in the span of roughly 3 hours but were quickly bought back down just minutes later to 6.5 again.
After that is took about 5-6 more hours before the betting line went back to -7 where it has sat for a while now and is likely to remain. The opening betting total of 47.5 was bet down right after the line became available and went to 47 within minutes.
Roughly a day later it has been bet even further down to the 46.5 tally it currently is set at.
Roughly 60% of gamblers seem to be on the Cardinals here so the point spread will be bet down and a 7.5 would not last very long at all with many taking the early 6.5 in hopes of finding a potential middle in the Super Bowl 2009 betting odds.
If you like Arizona and see a 7.5, I’d take it as soon as possible because it’s unlikely to last. For Pittsburgh backers, the -7 might be the best you’ll be able to find but a 6.5 is definitely possible close to game time.
Regarding the Super Bowl 2009 betting odds for the total, most tracked gamblers are already on the over and with those who took the under 47.5 already securing a middle on the over 46.5, the only way I see it moving is back up to 47 so if you like the over, I’d recommend betting now.
